Cranbrook is a community of artists and designers living and working together on a campus designed specifically for that purpose. The small-scale and nimble nature of the Academy encourages close interaction and interdisciplinary learning alongside Artists-in-Residence and your peers. There are few creative communities that do not share a Cranbrook connection, and we are delighted to welcome you to ours.

When you are ready to accept your admission offer it is a two step process. The first step is to submit your formal acceptance via our Online Application Portal.

The second step is to secure your studio by submitting this form and a $1,000 deposit. The following form will ask you for some basic information that we need to collect or confirm to get started on setting your profile up in our systems. At the end of the form it will take you to a payment portal for your studio deposit.

Wondering what happens next after you submit this form and make your studio deposit?

Over the next few months, things may feel a little quiet as we focus on the close of the spring semester and celebrating the graduation of our current students. That said, you may still hear from Admissions about upcoming events and opportunities to connect — including conference meetups, campus tours, and invitations to campus events like Graduate Degree Exhibition opening on April 11 and Open Studios on April 18. We always encourage you to join us when you can.

Your next formal communication from Student Services will arrive in early June. At that time, you’ll receive access to your Cranbrook email account along with login information for MyCAA (our online student portal), which will guide you through the next steps of enrollment.

For those who would like to live on campus, the Academy offers housing within three dormitories conveniently located on Academy Way. If you wish to live on campus, please indicate below. 

For those wishing to live off-campus, we will share a list of local landlords, rental agencies, and well-liked properties that our current students and alumni provide in June. Housing in Michigan has a 30-day notice to landlords, which means that a good portion of availability isn’t known for August possession until July.

Please note: by filling out this information it does not guarantee you a spot in the dorms, there will be a separate application later this spring. This is a preliminary interest form.

If you'd like to live on campus, please include special considerations, identify medical accommodations or any notes that could impact your placement in the dorms. 

Pending the amount of dorm interest preference may be given to students who do not have a vehicle with them on campus. Please let us know if you will be bringing a vehicle onto campus.

We want you to have the identity at the Academy that makes you happy, comfortable and feel respected. However, please note that Accounting, Student Billing, Human Resources and certain Registrar paperwork and processes will require you to use your full legal name.

Here are examples of how your email name could be displayed.

Examples:

Joe's name is legally Josephine Sansa and they are Joe. Their email continues to be Jsansa@cranbrook.edu but the name that appears in directories and in the display area of the email will reflect Joe as requested. 

Dolbert Huo prefers Bert. Bert can go by dhuo@cranbrook.edu or bhuo@cranbrook.edu with Bert as the email display name with either of those email addresses.

Jonathan Andrew Smith prefers Andrew. The email for Jonathan will be asmith@cranbrook.edu with Andrew Smith as the name that appears in directories and the display area.

On this tab we will be intaking information for your studio deposit. Studio Deposits are a non-refundable $1000.00 and it will secure your spot in the program. Due to the limited number of studios, we ask for your decision and deposit within 14 days of receiving your acceptance letter. Please refer the email sent by Julia Delagarza if you need a reminder of what date your deposit is due by.

Studio Deposits can be made in the form of a credit card or echeck. We can also accept wire transfers for international payments. Domestic Wires are not accepted. The studio deposit and submission of this form is due by the date on your acceptance letter. Please be aware that the studio deposit is non-refundable, but it will be applied as a pre-payment toward your first semester’s tuition this fall.

International payments can be accepted by wire transfer using FlyWire. Domestic wires are not accepted, instead select the Echeck/Credit option above. To use FlyWire follow these instructions:

Please note: you have the option to by echeck with no convenience fee or by credit card with a convenience fee. The convenience fee for paying with a credit is 3%, this will be calculated on the next page after you click the submit button below.
